Navotek
 




Navotek Medical develops real-time innovative tracking and navigation solutions for medical applications. The first application is in the oncology field, providing tumor localization and tracking for optimal radiation therapy.

Navotek’s solution will allow for safer and more effective treatment, improving the chances of tumor eradication and decreasing the rate of complications. In addition, it will potentially improve the efficiency of the treatment procedure by shortening individual sessions as well as entire treatment courses. This will increase the radiation rooms’ throughput which will translate into increased earnings for the hospital.

The company’s CEO and founder is Giora Kornblau, who previously served as R&D manager, responsible for high-end military tracking technologies at Elbit systems Ltd. Shimon Eckhouse, a well-known serial entrepreneur, serves as Navotek’s Chairman.

Yuval Avni was recently promoted to Vice President.

Avni joined Giza in 2008 as part of the Life Sciences and Cleantech sector teams. Dr. Avni, a Medical Practitioner, completed two-years of general surgery residency, focusing on vascular surgery. Dr Avni conducted several clinical research activities mainly in the area of human genetics. Dr. Avni holds a Medical Degree with Honors, from the Technion Institute, Haifa.

ActionBase continues its significant worldwide growth, gaining both new clients and increasing recognition in the IT industry for its Human Process Management Solutions. The company has been expanding its client base, gaining traction in a wide range of industries including oil and gas, utilities, process manufacturing and telecommunications.

In April, ActionBase was named a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Europe 2009, an award given to the top technology startups in the EMEA region.

Pathway Medical Technologies
 

In March, Pathway Medical closed its Series D round of financing. Giza was joined in the funding round by a number of major US investors including Forbion Capital Partners, HLM Venture Partners, Latterell Venture Partners, and Oxford Bioscience Partners.

Pathway entered its initial revenue sales in the last quarter of 2008 and plans to use the new funding to build out its sales team, grow its manufacturing organization, and continue product development. This should allow Pathway to take off and enter profitability stage.

In April, Continuity Software announced a major OEM deal with Symantec Corporation. Symantec has adopted Continuty’s Disaster Recovery verification solution in its Veritas CommandCentral Disaster Recovery Advisor, a software tool for Data Recovery/High Availability.

The main aim of CommandCentral Disaster Recovery Advisor is to identify configuration vulnerabilities in the data center and to ensure applications can be recovered in the event of an unplanned outage.

Lucid has recently announced a major deal with ELSA, a Japanese supplier of high-end graphics solutions. Under the agreement, Lucid’s HYDRA real-time distributed processing engine will power ELSA’s first high-performance multi-GPU setup.

The solution is aimed at broadcast, medical and other markets that require high-performance real time graphics processing or GPGPU-based high-performance computing.

By combining Lucid's component with ELSA's PCI-Express end-point device and remote graphics offering, a fully scalable and flexible system can be achieved for the first time at affordable price points.

In May, Can-Fite BioPharma announced positive results from tests using its CF101 molecule to treat moderate to severe Dry Eye Syndrom. Can-Fite said that the 80-patient Phase II clinical study had successfully met the primary efficacy endpoint.

Dry Eye Syndrome affects a large proportion of the general population, including contact lens users and postmenopausal women, and is also associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Based on published data, Dry Eye Syndrome affects more than 30 million people in the US alone, and the market for treatments is estimated at about US$ 1 billion.

Can-Fite entered the development of CF101 for this indication after learning that, during a Phase IIa rheumatoid arthritis trial, several patients reported a significant improvement in their Dry Eye Symptoms following treatment with CF101 as a monotherapy.
